Mystic Prayer

First step towards mystic prayer — intoxicated with love for Jesus

Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth.  For Your love is better than wine.  Song of Solomon 1:2  The Blotch translation says Kiss me and make me drunk with your kisses for your sweet loving is better than wine.  That represents the love of mystic pray-ers.  They are intoxicated with their love of Jesus.

We must eat and feast on Jesus.  At that feast we should be full of joy and pleasure.

They will be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of Your house and You will make them drunk with the rivers of Your pleasures.  Psalms 36:9

God takes great pleasure in us.  The biggest way we can love HIm is by receiving His love.

Becoming a mystic prayer is like …

2 people park benchBecoming a mystic is like two old friends sitting on a park bench.  They’ve known each other for 50 years.  They absolutely enjoy each other.  They enjoy looking at the park.  They don’t feel like they have to say anything.

Baby sleepingBecoming a mystic is like being a new mother.  The mother will enjoy looking at the little face and feet.  She may just look at the baby for an hour.  There is no conversation.

Mystic prayers and God drink in each other’s love

God wants to be wanted.  He drinks in your love.  He enjoys you enjoying Him.

The biggest battle you will have is asking yourself, “Shouldn’t I be doing something?”  The answer is, “No.  Just drink in His presence and drink in His love.”

After a while you may transition from just hosting His presence to being in the spirit.  This is when you may be taking into the heavenly courts, you may meet biblical characters or you may be shown around heaven.  (Remember: you were faithful over little, I shall set you over much, you must enter your master’s joy.  Matthew 25:23b)

Joseph of CupertinoJoseph of Copertino (1603-1663) used to go into such rapture that he would levitate.  In one monestary over 70 levitations were recorded.  He would rise several feet into the air, sometimes enraptured by heavenly music that only he could hear.

Teresa of Ávila (1515-1582) used to get into such ecstasy that she would levitate.  She once said that God ravishes the soul wholly unto Himself as one who is His very own bride.

  1. I think its wonderful tjat we as the body of Christ can have supernatural experiences with our Lord Jesus amd our Father amd The Holy Spirit. I also think that we jave a responsibility to our selves amd to others to test the spirits making sure that itmismof The right Spirit or the only True Spirit Jesus Christ. I was once of The Catholic faith and had many supernatural experience but when I was truely saved those experiemces stopped and was made awaremthat the experiences I was having were a counterfeit. Jesus christ is God and came to earth as a man in the flesh and any Spirit that wont admit or speak this is not of God. The only person who is to be worshipped is God who is triune in Nature God the Father God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. So as great as it sounds be cautious and test the spirits because not all supernatual experiences are of God. We are ressurected to new life healed in our bodies and done with a life of sin because the old nature has been nailed to the cross. If people are suffering in their bodies with sickness and beleive itsmpart of the christian walk or if they are struggling with sim thinking they are still a sinner then they haven’t even heard the Gospel. God is love not pain, our suffering os for right iousness sake and that is a suffering of persecution. So when I read of a so called believer who struggles with sin or accepts sickness as a asuffering from Jesus, I question of what spirit they are from. We who believe are healedmwe are rightious and we are dead to sin and alive to Christ only. Our behavior has nothing to do with our union toChrist, and our belief oh who He is and what He has done for us will greatly influence mhow we walk. Please be cautious about recomemding people who have jad supernatural experiences because hot every spirit os of God. Be blessed and full of Grace amd peace. Theresa

    1. Oh boy,
Their are MANY holes in your response, Theresa. Some who experience stigmata , experience untold pain and yet, it is a GIFT from God.
Many places in scripture it says, as Jesus suffered, so will His followers. Many trials will come to those who believe and love the Lord.
Do you actually read scriptures and works of the church fathers? Their are so many works written about the subject by the 4 evangelists, who quote the words of Christ, I wouldn’t know where to start. Pain is not necessarily a result of sin. As Christ suffered, His followers will also suffer.
I could go on, but if you don’t understand this, it is a waste of time writing about it.
