Praying According to the Bible

It Is Written…

When Jesus was confronted by the devil, he countered him with the written Word.

The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”  Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”   Matthew 4:3-4.

Note that the Holy Spirit inspired forty-some different men to write the Bible.  There is power in the Word of God.

When Mike Shreve went into an insane asylum, he was given a total of five minutes to pray for a patient.  The first four and a half minutes he spent saying, “It is written…”.  Then he would quote an appropriate Bible verse.  The next half minute he and his partner prayed for the woman.

Declare when praying…

If you get a Word of Knowledge, DECLARE that it will happen.  That’s what Mike Shreve had to do during a crusade in India.  The Lord told him to tell the congregation that all the deaf people in the crowd would be healed.  Otherwise, he said, the message he had been telling them was a lie.

If he had not begun to pray for a totally deaf man and if the man would not have been healed, he would have been murdered.  The video below explains it all.

Accept promises as accomplished fact…

If you hear from God, just accept His biblical promises as fact.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms.  Ephesians 1:17-20

For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.   Ephesians 3:14-19

Mike Shreve accept the promises in the two passages above as fact when he prayed for a man with a blind eye and deaf ear.  Watch below as he explains how they were healed.
