Biblical Studies of Ancient Herbrew

After years of intense biblical studies of Ancient Hebrew and Ancient Greek, Bill Morford found out that many words and idioms were not translated properly. This article has a few examples.

During these years of study, Mr. Morford ended up translating and publishing his translation of the Bible. It’s called The One New Man Bible.

Sometimes the tenses are not translated correctly. For instance, where Numbers 6:24-26 says The LORD bless you and keep you: The LORD make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you…, it really said The LORD will bless you and keep you: The LORD will make his face to shine upon you, and will be gracious to you…. Most translations as implying MAY the Lord bless you… when it really means The Lord WILL bless you…

One of the big problems has been with the Ancient Hebrew idioms. We know that animals are not falling out of the sky when someone says, “It is raining cats and dogs.” It is equally illogical to translate some of the Hebrew idioms literally.

Where Jesus told people to pluck out their eye if it caused them to sin, he was referring to a Jewish idiom. What he really meant is that if you are greedy and stingy, stop being that way.

When Isaiah 53:4-5 tells us that by His stripes we are healed, it means that you will be healed by having fellowship with him.

One term Christians often have trouble with is law. The word should really be translated as teaching or instruction.

According to the King James version, Romans 16:1-2 says I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea:

That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also. Her role was translated as servant. It should really have been minister.

What is often translated as fear really is respect, revere and awe.
